I was in healthcare for 3 years and studied occupational therapy before starting a new life as a UX Designer. Although I officially started UX design only after leaving occupational therapy, I can’t help but think that my UX journey started long before that.

Understanding and analyzing others was something i enjoyed doing. Nobody appreciates advice that’s irrelevant to their problem - it makes it seem like you’re giving advice from a high horse without taking the time to understand or listen to their discontent. I never would have thought that taking on occupational therapy would only refine and polish this skill. It only makes sense right? Understanding and breaking down the patient’s complex problem because there could have been several root causes to one problem.

Outside of work, I enjoy immersing myself in games. The best part about games is executing strategies and ideas in combat that’s not otherwise possible in real life. It’s not just hack, slash and shooting, it’s about strategic placement and manipulating the environment to my desire to achieve the most efficient and effective outcome.
